After our first Reubens for Rotary fundraiser party in 2016, we sent Aziz Noujoum, of Corps Africa-Maroc, to visit Ait Daoud and see what they needed for a water project. Also pictured is the late Si Abderahmen Ait Tazarine, who said that the village badly needed to improve their irrigation ditch, by lining it with concrete.
Corps Africa President Omar Laafoura, along with then-President of the Rotary Club of Marrakech-Majorelle Khadija El-Bourkadi. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the organizations to work together on the project.
Corps Africa coordinator Aziz Noujoum, along with Tahar Tazarine, on our 2017 reconnaissance trip. Aziz is from the area, so there was immediate trust with the locals.
Corps Africa volunteers Hamza Aboubaigi and Mostafa Essalai were assigned to live in Ait Daoud and work with the villagers to plan the project.
Corps Africa volunteers Hamza Aboubaigi and Mostafa Essalai mapped out the irrigation zones of Ait Daoud. This map has become our metric for the success of the project. We are determining if more zones will receive irrigation water per 2-week cycle now that the irrigation ditch is being lined with concrete for more efficient flow.
